Steamboat Night (16/01/2009)

On the 16th of January 2009, S-JAC has organized a Steamboat Night at MK Gardens. Located beside The Store Pandan, approximately 50 members attended this very first event for S-JAC of year 2009. The members and VIPs were gathered there at around 6.30pm; whilst the main BOD was there at 6.00pm to put up some last minute touch ups. The VIPs for the night were our Vice Principal of Sunway College Johor Bahru, Miss Wong, Miss Irene, Miss Nadia, Miss Addlance and her daughter, Esther.

10 tables with the average of five members were opened; including the VIPs and BODs. The steamboat event was started with a friendly chat by our emcees for the night; Alagammai and Vinothini. A note was also given to each table to prepare for the game event, which will take place during the dinner. After the friendly chat, members were allowed to take the ingredients to put into both of the steamboat flavours; Tom Yam and Chicken. With the ingredients available; the cooking is started. Let’s scream…IT’S EATING TIME! =]

The games were played during the dinner; thus emcees were calling groups one by one to come up to perform. The group performances were singing; chatting non-stop for three minutes; dancing to The Ketchup Song and acting. Everyone had a fun time producing their own performance and it was a great one as all the members only took around 30 minutes to an hour or maybe even less than that just to plan for it.

Lucky draws were also drawn during the events and in order to collect the prizes, our emcees were up to something naughty during this time. The lucky collectors has to play a game with the emcees which some of it were asking questions; naming their best friends and even “How many boyfriends you have?”. That sounds quite fun isn’t it? Well, thanks to all the members who won the lucky draw, for their participation. Hampers were also given away to groups who were the two best groups during this event.

Around 9.00pm; the event ended and everyone was treated with watermelons and of course ICE-CREAM! Who wouldn’t resists the temptation of ice cream right? I bet you can’t! The BOD had also managed to buy a cake in order to celebrate the birthday of members who were born in the month of January. And there they were, three little angels celebrating their birthday in the month of January. =)

Here are some photos during the event. Have fun looking and admiring at it.

The History of S-JAC

As the saying goes; “Two minds think alike.” I would agree with that as with these wise words, a new club was born. It’s no ordinary club towards us accounting students as it was the first ever Accounting Club in Sunway College Johor Bahru. Thanks to our dear President and Vice President; Alagammai and Tan Wei Ling; our very own campus has its own Accounting Club. Known as Sunway Johor Accounting Club or S-JAC for short, the club has currently more than 100 members in it. It was formed on June but formally launched on July 2008. Through this club, students from the Certified Accounting Technician and Association of the Certified Chartered Accountant courses are able to come together as one united people.

The main Board of Directors were chosen by the Teacher Advisors, President and Vice President through interviews and proposals. Our previous Board of Directors had a bonding session after the launch of S-JAC in Miss Nadia’s residence. The bonding session started with a movie in City Square (Maid of Honour) and thus proceeding to Danga Bay for a walk. After that, the BOD proceed to Miss Nadia’s residence, while stopping by at some shopping centers to get the basic necessities for the barbecue at night. At Miss Nadia’s residence, the BOD helped each other to prepare for the barbecue. Our Vice Principal of Sunway College Johor Bahru, Miss Wong was also present during this event.

Our first event for the members was the Barbecue Night held mainly in the campus itself on 27th July 2008. Approximately 50 members were present and had a wonderful time. There were games, getting to know each other and of course, food. (How can anyone forget that?) The BOD has also a little surprise for our Teacher Advisor, Miss Nadia. As her birthday falls at the end of the month, the BOD decided to throw a small surprise for her. A short video clip was played and part of the BOD brought a cake out from the front.

The next particular event was the S-JAC Funfair which was held during the SOS Earth event. Dated on 21st September 2008, booths were opened by other clubs from S-JAC. There were scrumptious food, drinks, games stall and not to forget our very own Target Shooting booth organized by S-JAC. Approximately RM 900 was raised and this money was donated by S-JAC to Life Link Orphanage. Here’s a big THANK YOU to all those clubs participated to make the funfair a HUGE success.

These is the history of S-JAC. Year 2008 was a very good year for our club as we managed to organize and complete many events. As we proceed to a new year, we in S-JAC, would like to give our heartiest THANK YOU to our previous Board of Directors, particularly to our ex-Treasurer, Dinega for all her hard work done in this club.

Therefore, SUPPORT US AT S-JAC!!!
p/s: More photographs will be up once our dear photographer releases them. Will try to get it from her ASAP.
